WRITING BOOTS EXCLUSIVE!
One of Writing Boots' charter readers, Rueben Bronee, of Victoria, British Columbia, has been somewhat out of touch since disloyally and cravenly taking a non-communication management job in the Canadian government. (Seriously, Rueben; any asshole can get ahead in a non-communication management job.)
Yet when Rueben saw a local appeal to "engage the community in the dialogue (as any decent community does these days, if only to prolong the decision making process, which has already taken years)," he thought of me.
And it's not hard to see why. The Caddyshack-like combination of a pristine setting and a shitty subject make this meeting fit Writing Boots like a baby's ass fits a muddy diaper. Had Writing Boots known in time, we would have sponsored the meeting.
"There's nothing wrong with it," Bronee writes. "And yet there's something just not right."
Rueben's still got it.
Those of us who are still slugging it out in the communication business are forever trying to prove the worth of what we do. And we know we'll never get paid, as we surely should, for the saved cost of the imbecilities we prevent.
