Several times over the course of more than 10 years and nearly 3,000 posts at Writing Boots, it has occurred to me that maybe I'll run out of things to say. I reassure myself by remembering that the only way that could happen is if people stop doing and saying barbaric things. And my worry evaporates.
I was further encouraged to see that writer Mary Midgley made it all the way to the end—she died last month at 99—on an identical philosophy:
“I keep thinking that I shall have no more to say,” Midgley once said, “and then finding some wonderfully idiotic doctrine which I can contradict.”
